The oft-ignored Musée de Montmartre is a great little museum to escape the hordes of tourists and portrait artists who crowd around Sacré Coeur and the Place du Tertre. And spring is the perfect time to enjoy the views over the Montmartre vineyard from the museum’s Renoir Gardens. There’s new open-air festival Fête de Montmartre in the gardens 2-7pm each first weekend of the month through September, featuring period actors from the Belle Epoch performing short scenes, live music, Cancan dancers, fortune tellers, musicians, etc. There’s also a little outdoor tearoom in the gardens where you can relax with a cool beverage. Tickets are €12, best to buy them on advance before everyone else catches on!
