In the late ’60s or early ’70s, a French house guest, whose parents ran a cultural festival in the North of France, brought as his present a seriograph that was simply captivating and something like the one on the right. A few weeks ago an art historian appraising our paltry collection for insurance purposes wrote that the artist, Carlos Cruz-Diez, was now hot–and had exhibitions scheduled this year in L.A., Houston and DC, plus a wonderful article in ARTnews. His home base is Paris and there is a show on of his right now; current and older work at the Galerie Denise Rene at 22, rue Charlot in the 3rd until January 29th, 2011. 3 Wows; it’s really kicky.
