Margiela Revamps a Champs Elysees Hotel
I have always loved designer Martin Margiela’s obsession with the color white. Margiela retired as chief designer from his eponymous label a few seasons ago but has kept busy spreading his vision of white by designing the 17 rooms and public spaces of the La Maison Champs Elysees. I had the distinct pleasure of getting a tour of the rooms and hotel last month. I wish I didn’t live in Paris only so I could stay in one of the killer chic rooms. I especially love the suite with the cabinet of curiosities and the picture frames covered in white cotton. Once the home of Princess d’Essing, the Duchess of Rivoli, dating back to 1864, this hotel has been transformed by Margiela into a sleek, sparkling playground with his signature white with touches of gray and black.
