Mobbed Greenery

mobbed-gardenIt’s Official. The Parisians are out of hibernation. Leave it to our first sunny Sunday to draw, what seemed like the entire city, out of their heated flats onto the sun-soaked pathways and sprawling lawns of the local parks. I came upon this thawing crowd while on my afternoon run. Normally, I can expect a few other runners and some old ladies with newspapers sitting on the green benches, but today, as I made my way through the curving iron gates, I had to slow down as a crowd made its way towards the lawns in zombie-like fashion. Inside looked like a festival or some great party. Every single bench was taken, parents and kids kicked soccer balls around on the grass, groups of teenagers sat with guitars and cigarettes. There was noise, laughter, conversation. It was exactly the scene I have been waiting all winter for.
