The Festival d'Ile de France
The Festival d’Ile de France has a regional emphasis, unlike Paris’ other summer festivals and events. With 33 concerts stretching far beyond the major Parisian music venues, the festival combines a rediscovery of regional heritage with a huge range of world music. As part of this year’s theme, “Elles… musiques au féminin,” Directrice Charlotte Latigrat poses questions on the nature of femininity, taking inspiration from the likes of Mary Magdalene, Salome and other historical women portrayed in music. The enormous range of music on offer is highlighted in video clips from the festival’s website. Diversity is the buzz word, emphasizing the way the festival brings together central Paris, the banlieue and Paris’ surrounding villages.
