Where to Play Poker in Paris

Recommended by the guys over at Pokerlistings.com.

For those of you who are going to Paris you will have a plethora of options in terms of what to do and where to go.

There are the must-see attractions like the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower but if you are looking for an alternative night out and would like to play poker at one of Paris’s well known rooms, check out Aviation Club de France.
104 Avenue Champs Elysées,  75008 Paris, France, 01 45 62 26 88
It’s been open since 1907. The dress code is strict and requires a smart attire definitely by no trainers. If you didn’t bring your tie with you can find exclusive online poker deals here.
His little brother, the Cercle Gaillon, which is around the corner from the Aviation club, is also recommended. It has the same owners that the ACF. The décor is top-notch with a meticulous attention to detail. 11 Rue de Berri, Paris, Île-de-France 75008, www.cerclegaillon.net, +33 1 45 62 08 33

Both appear excellent places, and love the blog btw, but let’s face it, offline poker in France is almost an impossibility. Coming from the UK, where £10 Friday night tournaments attract 100+ entries every week, ACF appears to have minimum buy-in minus rebuys add-ons etc of maybe 50€ and cercle gaillon even more. A big raid within the last year or so I think closed a lot (maybe 3!!) of popular ‘Cercles’ and they seem to want to push everyone and everything online. Amazing that the view of poker is so antiquated and elitist. Bit like the golf, which is slowly changing but not nearly quick enough….and don’t get me started on Betfair. Even Paddypower is banned here because they provide the enging enad worse odds behind the PMU…
